In this vital role, the Cleaner will be responsible for ensuring that all designated workspaces β including patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, kitchens, bathrooms, and public zones β are kept immaculately clean and sanitized. You’ll help meet infection control standards and promote comfort, hygiene, and safety throughout our facilities, especially important in healthcare environments.
π Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties across various facility zones, including wards, common areas, and restrooms.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and clinical environments in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and report when reordering is required.
- Adhere to safety standards when using chemical cleaning agents and equipment.
- Ensure all waste is safely disposed of in accordance with health regulations.
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests or spills.
- Clean up bodily fluids using proper safety and sanitation procedures.
- Follow written and verbal cleaning instructions accurately.
- Collaborate with team members to meet scheduling and rotational task requirements.
- Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and hygiene standards.
- Report maintenance issues or hazards to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate care and respect toward patients, visitors, and fellow staff.
π Required Qualifications and Skills
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions, safety protocols, and record logs.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare, aged care, or institutional setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with WHS (Work Health and Safety) practices and handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability in routine-based work.
- Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
