Job Summary

As a Civil Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and design of complex civil infrastructure projects, including freeways, urban roads, and drainage systems. Based in Gold Coast, QLD, this position supports both local and national transport initiatives, integrating sustainable urban development and active mobility strategies. You’ll work with a high-performing, collaborative team focused on innovative engineering outcomes and continuous growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate technical civil design projects from concept to detailed design stages.
  • Produce detailed design documentation for freeways, rural, urban, and local roads.
  • Conduct hydrological analysis and design stormwater drainage and water treatment systems.
  • Prepare concept designs, final drawings, and ensure compliance with local and national design standards.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle for small-to-medium projects and support larger, multi-disciplinary infrastructure initiatives.
  • Engage in site visits and ensure designs are practical and meet project constraints.
  • Liaise with local councils, authorities, and clients to ensure design approval and alignment with regional standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including traffic, geotechnical, and environmental engineers.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the team.
  • Ensure all project work meets Egis’ quality standards and health and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions, technical reviews, and workshops.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil infrastructure design, particularly road design.
  • Proficient in design software such as 12D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with Austroads, TMR, and local government design standards.
  • Strong understanding of hydrology, stormwater design, and drainage planning.
  • Proven experience producing detailed design reports, specifications, BOQs, and cost estimates.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
  • Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and manage client relationships.

Salary and Benefits
