The Cleaner will work collaboratively within the school team to ensure all facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. You will be essential in creating a safe, orderly, and positive space for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves indoor and outdoor work and follows a term-time schedule, offering work-life balance and community connection.

✅ Key Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, toilets, and public spaces following established cleaning protocols.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, and blowers.
Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floor surfaces.
Dust desks, shelves, furniture, and fixtures.
Collect litter and empty, wash, and replace rubbish bins and liners.
Remove graffiti and report any damage or hazards.
Clean windows, mirrors, fridges, sinks, basins, and other appliances.
Maintain outdoor paved areas using brooms, blowers, or hoses.
Secure classrooms by locking doors and windows and turning off lights.
Report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or inventory shortages to the Business Manager.
Follow safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and materials.
Assist with ordering and stocking of cleaning supplies as required.

🎓 Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory:

Current Working with Children (Blue Card) or eligibility to obtain one (No Card, No Start Policy applies).
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role (lifting, bending, prolonged standing).
Awareness of Workplace Health & Safety and safe chemical handling.
Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment.

Desirable:

Experience working in a school, hospital, or commercial cleaning environment.
Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical storage procedures.
Experience around children or in a child-safe workplace.
